Charlotte FC is a professional soccer club based in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. The club competes in Major League Soccer as a member of the Eastern Conference, beginning in the 2022 season. The franchise was officially awarded to the city on December 17, 2019, during an event at the Mint Museum. The club was founded by Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper, alongside an ownership group that includes NBA legend Michael Jordan. Known as “The Crown,” the club draws its identity from Charlotte’s nickname of “The Queen City,” in honor of Queen Charlotte Sophia of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, and has built a community-driven identity aimed at uniting fans across both North and South Carolina. In their inaugural season, Charlotte FC set an MLS attendance record for a home debut against the LA Galaxy, drawing 74,479 spectators, and the club has steadily established itself as one of the league’s most supported and ambitious franchises
